What do you think about that?

What can I do for my host family? I really appreciate them. But I don't have enough time. Taylor is leaving today, so next is me.
The day is too short. I have to do something during I can stay here. I don't wanna come back Japan. Many examinations and my busy part time job life are waiting.

So I make my host family to try some Japanese food.
First I make "Zentya" and "Ryokutya".
It's a little different for their thinking about "Green (Japanese) tea".
They try not to fear about new thing.
Next I make a source for corns to dip. A dinner was BBQ so Ken burned corn.
I came up with making the special source. The source need much sugar.
American people may like it. I think it's a traditional source in Japan. We often see the source at festival.
It's maybe strange combination for them, but they like it!!!!
I'm really glad. I used Soy source (Kikkoman) and sugar.
I have only to mix the sugar and soy source to getting a little rough.

Third I made "Barley tea". Ken and Kari like the tea. I made for me (taking to school) and them (they drink it at dinner).
They said to me it is similar to coffee. I'm very surprised. TEA AND COFFEE????
But it's good for them because they can drink a little easily than other tea.
They sometimes want me to drink the tea. And sometimes call it "I want a Makko tea".
I'm glad to making that tea.
I'm really delighted to accept Japanese culture and food.
I Thanks for host family to try my new strange food.
One of my pleasures to try them new thing!

I like to talk about my homework with Ken and Kari.
We enjoy talking. I ask them some funny expressions or serious problems in America society.
And I like the time playing with Harper. She is so cute!! She likes eating and playing. I tried some playing. Sometimes I fall down from the top of tree.

I like driving with Kylie. She likes nice music, and she has nice friends. I learned some funny words from her and her friends.
I experienced "Slip'N' slide" or some party.

This is the Bethel University in Minnesota. Bethel is a private school. Their religion is Christ. Good environment and good meal and nice teacher.

Mall of America

Today I went to the Mall of America which is a biggest mall in America. There are working many Asian and Black people. In the daily life, I sometimes meet those of people. But it's not so many times than white people.
And Mall of America can't say how big there is.
Not big, it's HUGE!!!
I couldn't watch the all shops. I didn't know where I am, when I and my friends went around.

Apple pie in USA

I will make an apple pie next Sunday with my host family.
I'm looking forward to making it.
Because I usually spend with Kylie (Daughter) after I eat the dinner.
I like to spend with her and I enjoy very very much.
But I need a time to spend all of the family.
I talk to more and more with my host.
In fact, this is a little worry for me.
But they always ask me how do you do after school?
I can't answer. I'm worried about the seen. BECAUSE IT'S A JAPANESE!!!!

My essay for Year book

This is my essay for Year book.
I really enjoy my American Life.

I learned many things for this short period. My home stay was really fruitful, because I had many chances to experience new things.
First, I experienced American theatre. My host family is very involved in theatre. I had many chances to go to theatre to watch the same play. I went there four times and I met many generations of people. And one day, I was taught a joke by a woman at the information desk.
"Why does 6 fears 7? Because 7 8 9(7 Ate9)."
It's hard for me to understand American Jokes, but it's easy to understand!!
So I was very glad to be able to understand the joke at the first time. So I've never forgot this joke.
Next I learned some new funny words. My most favorite word is "Oopsie." This word is often said by a new friend I made here. I learned new words more and more, I could enjoy speaking English. Because people told me why it's funny. Coming to America, and everything is new, everything is exciting, everything is fun.
Together they may be tiny things, but every experience is big for me. I want to come back here again. Especially to Steinbach home. Thank you so much.
